Drumming for womxn & NB - 20th Nov
I'm leaving Stockholm soon and it's time to get out the bucket list! And a lot of people have been asking for this, too.
It sometimes surprises me that while my work is mostly with the voice, a lot of people identify me more as the "drum" person.
I guess I'm not soooo surprised- I've been playing percussion for 11 years now, and have trained with djembe master Yaya Siré in Senegal. And I'm very, very often seen with my drum
Drumming is one of my great JOYS and PASSIONS in this world. And drumming together is a beautiful way to synch ourselves in a way that goes beyond words.
Why for womxn & NB? I don't usually gender-specify my offerings, but I really see drumming as a very cis-man-dominated space. Which is a shame, because drumming is at least 50% about listening, making it very compatible with the receptivity of the feminine. I find drumming a wonderful way to balance my inner masculine and inner feminine, and I want us to feel more empowered to step up and pick up that drum when it's calling to us from across the room.
This is the third of 3 workshops:
Saturday 12th November 10-13
Wednesday 16th November 18-21
Sunday 20th November 10-13
It's a bit of a squeeze game: I need time for you to sign up as well as time to sell my drums before I leave on 1st December! (It means that if you fall in love with a drum, you might take it home with you after the last session. There will be discounts for those who have attended at least 1 workshop).
Price for 1 workshop: 300 kr
Price for 2 workshops: 500 kr
Price for 3 workshops: 600 kr
Max. 6 spots on each workshop.
ABOUT ME
I've spent my time in Stockholm teaching my self-developed Voice Activation programme, which I always accompany with my drum.
As I mentioned, I've also trained under Senegalese djembe master Yaya Siré and spent 3 years teaching drumming when I lived in Oxford, England.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Rhythm training, learning some patterns and also jamming. Just like with the voice, my focus is on tuning in and really expressing what's inside, this time with drums rather than voices as our tools.
